The Division consists of 19 geographic full time faculty and one Ph.D. scientist, who are based in five fully affiliated University teaching hospital Divisions including The University Health Network hospitals (Toronto General, Princess Margaret, Toronto Western), Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre, St. Michael's Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital and The Hospital for Sick Children.

The PostGraduate Training Program is five years from graduation. Nineteen residents are currently in training over the 5 years, plus 6 or more fellows are attached at various times. The peer reviewed and contract research involves approximately $1,300,000 per year with clinical and laboratory investigation. The Division of Urology has programs in all of the subspecialty areas.

Although a number of surgeons did take an interest in urological disease, including a Mr. Peter who did the first surgery for bladder extrophy with transplantation of the trigone to the rectum in 1900, it was not until 1922 that the first Urology service was established in Canada.
